Close to your subject, in the long end....

I really like the small bird pictures, the feathers may not be razor sharp like some of the lenses, but they look like feathers,

At 300mm @ infinity it's really weak.

Thanks. I was guessing this is what you meant. My longest lens is my A70-210, and somewhere around 150-180 it drops off in performance quite noticeably, so I know what you mean about needing to zoom with your feet rather than the lens if you want to retain any sense of sharpness.

Ya, but any thread could have a postathon, or a like-athon, only one was able to pull it off...

It was the only general talk thread outside of the general talk forum and therefore its posts were counted.

Right; and besides that, the thread had been going for several months before the contest.

Nah, it's just that the Takumar purple aren't as easily impressed. You don't earn likes simply because you can count a sparrow's nostril hairs at 500 paces.

I don't know, I find it particularly hard to impress the Takumar purple. Your comment was right on.

And those Takumar reds are always calling you a bourgeoisie, what does that mean anyway?

Seems like certain threads are pretty quick to give likes out (300mm lens club, DA limited club), while others are a lot tougher (DA * lens club). Probably just has to do with the folks that hang out there and whether they are easy to impress or not.

Or, some threads might have better pictures than others

Where as the "Why I won't buy a K-3" has almost no pictures, that are mostly product shots of food, not taken with K-3s as in keeping up with the title of the thread.
