I would like to know if somebody could tell me if my second body could be another K30( i dont like k50) or K5 or K5II
I got these lenses SMC A 50 1.4 - SMC A 1.7 -SMC M 35-70 2.8-3.5 - DA 18-55 WR -Sigma DC OS HSM 18-50 2.8-4.5
Use my actually K30 for street photography by Night, low light photos is a prerogative,Focus Peaking is important? Any Advices about that?

I've got a K-30, and while I had to wait for repairs for 3 months (mirror box replaced after inconsistent exposure), I decided to go for the K-5IIs. Although no focus peaking, I've not regretted the purchase, it's now my main camera with the K-30 as backup and use of manual lenses with LV focus peaking. I just could not go for another K-30 after the trouble I had with mine

Thanks god My K30 is performing great,So if I use Manual lenses (also with A setting) K30 is the best option.. so I could use K5/K5II/K5IIs with modern zooms lenses and K30 with Manual Classic lenses? The problem is that I'm collecting and I'm addicted to classic Manual lenses....

Go for one of the k-5 cameras, you get a couple features the K-30 doesn't have. And the K-30 has the features the K-5 is lacking (like focus peaking, different video recording,..).
Or another K-30. Some people like to have the same camera, so they remember the controls only once and its the same on all their cameras.

Yes I agree.. expecially on the same camera matter...I have an offer for an used(8000 shots) K5II but I really Love my K30 and features I would like one Grey or Green very hard to found here in italy.. Did anyone know if use a K5II o K5 on low light bias with SMC A 50f 1.4/1.7 could be better than set on a K30?

Another aspect that you have to take into consideration, is batteries. If you use AA batteries with the adapter in your k-30, it might be better to get another k-30, as you'll have to get a grip for the k-5 in order to use AA batteries, that might take the price out of range...

I have a K5. If you are using a lot of the older manual focusing lenses, then the K30 or K50 would be your best bet. This is due to the focus peaking that the K5/II/IIs does not have. I will say that the focus peaking on my Q is very nice and would certainly help on the K5.

No focuspeaking on K-5 series. You could also look for a K-01 for this purpose.

Find a K-01 if you can. great IQ, little smaller and lighter (good for 2nd camera), focus peeking. and more importantly, same battery and charger.

I always work with two bodies, but mine are always identical twins, so no thinking involved it's just seamless in their use.

Agree with the other folks on the K-01 recommendation. I have a K5 that while great, is a bit of a pain to use with faster manual lenses like the Pentax-M 50 F/1.4. I paired it with a K-01 I bought used recently, and now taking manual shots is pure bliss using focus peaking. Wish it had an optical viewfinder personally, but hey, can't have everything.

Interesting how many people cite Focus Peaking as being desirable, I must be odd - but I can't get on with it at all - well not the peaking that Pentax has implemented anyway. I get much better manual focus without FP so I don't consider 'peaking' important at all, I never use it.

To the OP, I like the idea of having two identical bodies when a 'backup' is what you want - but if it's a 'second Pentax body' you want then I'd agree that a K-5II/s would be worth considering.
I have the K-50, I like it - it helps me shoot good quality photos, but I really miss the top LCD which I have been used to with my K-7. If you've never used a body with the top LCD, you're probably lucky in a way

Actually, not the same battery or charger on the K-30. Better battery, same as the K5, K7. Overall, the K-01 has a better feel than the K-30, and better video (remote mic, better battery, etc.). Obviously, for other dSLR traits such as a VF and quick shooting, the K-30. They can go together well, especially given your affinity for MF. The sensor is similar or the same, but for whatever reason (just the slowness of the K-01 shooting 1 fps RAW, I suppose) - it just seems you get a little more out of the K-01. Not a rational thought, I must admit. Certainly the "look" is similar, though.

Really, the K-3 is the best option - even if waiting a few months to get it at closeout for around $700. You have focus peaking, excellent features and resolution that matches or exceeds pretty much all MF lenses. Still, high resolution tends to bring out the best in the old MFs, and yet exposes the worst (CA, bad bokeh, weak colors) in the newer lenses. Not all examples, of course, but kind of surprising in more than a few instances.
