Noise reduction on or off?

Howdy. I've been taking some night shots recently and am wondering whether I'd get better results leaving the K10D's built-in NR function on, or leave it off and post-process with something like Noise Ninja or Neat Image? Thanks in advance for any advice you can share.

The built in noise reduction kicks in to reduce long exposure noise, something like hot pixels - this is something different compared to the high iso noise you combat with Noise Ninja and Neat Image. If NR is turned on in the K10D the camera takes a second exposure of the same length after the original image is taken without opening the shutter, and the resulting image is substracted from the first exposure, thus eliminating the hot pixels that have cropped up. Note that it only is in effect for exposure of 1 second or longer. So yes, it's a good idea to leave the NR to "on" in the K10D for night shots, but every exposure takes double the time of course.
