K200D gone missing - looking for new/used camera

My K200D went missing; not sure what happened.

If I were going to spend $500 or less, what would a good replacement Pentax camera be, on par feature-wise with the K200D. Thanks.

The K-30 and/or K-50 lack the top LCD, but should be better in every other way, and available at your price. Used, a K-5 should be in your price range and has the top LCD. If you use manual focus glass a lot, the k-30 has focus peaking, and I think it has better video, but I'm not sure 100% because I don't use video. Even cheaper is a used K-30. A heck of a great camera!

Edit, there's a K-5 available used in the marketplace here now for $350 (not mine, I have no relation to seller). Perhaps you can make a deal on that one!

With the prices of the K-50 and K-500 today, I don't see any reason to buy an older used model. There hasn't been a better or cheaper time to get a new entry or mid-priced DSLR. Some of the prices that folks are asking for older bodies seems to completely ignore what is out there, brand new, with a warranty.

I'd recommend the K-50. You can get it for $446 with a free $50 gift card, so it's like paying $396:

The K-50 has all the latest features and modern sensor, but I think a K-5 might be more sensible for an experienced photographer. That way its not just a step sideways, but a step up
Although, the K-50 and K-5 have nearly identical image quality, its the features that are different

All great advice. I admit I'm not on here much anymore like I was 5-6 years ago. Kills me that the K200d is gone. Loved that camera. I do have a 2-3 pieces of manual glass. And I guess I'd consider myself a lower level intermediate.

What would be the main advantages of the K5 over the K-50?

K-5 has a magnesium body, bigger battery, top LCD, more real buttons for control, a rear receiver for the IR remote, ability to take a grip, 14 bit raw (K-30 has 12 bit), 1/8000 shutter speed (K-30 is 1/6000), super quiet shutter, ISO 80 (k-30 is 100), 7fps (vs 6), better dust removal.

K-30/k-50 are identical except styling of the body, they have a faster computer (more responsive), better movie modes, better jpeg engine, slightly better focus system(especially live view), focus peaking, AA battery can be used, available in colors, 100g lighter, cheaper.

The IQ of the K-5 is reported by some to be slightly better, but impossible to tell the difference for me. There is a supposedly a little more shadow detail in the K-5 because of the 14 bit engine. Either way you go, you are a winner!

Is there an expiry on the Adorama deal? Since my 18-55 lens was attached to my K200d when lost, I see I could also get the new weather sealed 18-55 with the same $50 gift card for $100 more and, like the body-only deal, also get a free case, flash and software bundle. Seems like a great deal.

Always call Adorama and B&H to confirm pricing - they're not always the same over the phone as advertised online...

I can only add that I use that top LCD panel a lot to confirm settings in the field.
