We could create a series of Demographics of Pentaxians surveys to capture all relevant metrics.

What shall we poll next? Personally I'd like to see "Preference: Boxers, Briefs, or Itty Bitty String Things".

Edit for clarity: I'd like the see the poll, not the actual underwear, considering the results of both this poll and the What Age Are You? poll.
don't forget "commando" as an option

That is more true than many realise - and not only in this context.

Odd. Most of the DSLR users I know are women. Especially the ones who actually use more than the kit lens.

Forum limitations. one poll per post. This isn't the best venue for an exhaustive survey.
I didn't know that . Makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

Guilty confession: sometimes after being judged for my equipment choices, I intentionally search for crappy photos taken with Canikons and then take solace in the lovely galleries of Charis Talbot and Keitha McCall.

Then I avoid pinholecam's posts because they make me covet the A7.

Then make it so, instead of complaining about this one.
I see.

Female, but I hope the avatar gave it away.

I'm a professional at biting my own tongue around women I know who bought a Canon Rebel and call themselves "photographers". Sometimes I wish I was a little more sassy.

I've never in my life seen another Pentaxian in person, male or female. (Except for one WG-model last summer.)

Quite so! I'm also curious what euphemisms are used for this in other parts of the world.

7 or 8 years ago I bumped into a Pentax Princess & her mother while I was rambling around a small pond. I had a K100D + Tamron 70-300, she had a K100D Super + DA 300.

The only other K3 I have ever seen in the wild -- about a week after it was released -- was next to me on a café table sporting a limited prime. When the couple left, she picked up her camera.

In this town its 80% Canon, 10% Nikon and 10% "other". Probably equal numbers of DSLR male/female (at least it seems that way from Camera club). IN the wild I havent seen a pentax at all. I've met a few people who used to use Pentax until... they joined camera club or bought something from the local camera shop which wants to push Canon at everyone.

Isn't that where Colin Firth's trip in the movie Love Actually went in the states?

Ha! I love that movie! Colin Firth's character actually stays in the greater European area (England, France, Portugal)... the character named "Colin" actually ends up in... Minnesota, I think (or Michigan. I get those M-neighbors confused). Still the Midwest, and rather similar, but more northern geographically.

But you get the idea; this is a rural area of the USA and the number of people interested in the photography hobby is pretty limited. Then you couple that with the percentage of people who buy Canons and Nikons... So in a city of 20,000, how many own DSLRs? How many of them are Canikon? Who's representing Pentax? (That'd be me.)

Well, let's see. My teacher out on the West Coast is a Pentax guy by choice though he has many brands of cameras to choose from. His wife shoots Pentax and Olympus. My occasional teacher here, a guy, has Pentax gear but also shoots Nikon and Canon, about equally from what I've seen. He has complete systems for all 3. His wife shoots mainly Pentax. In my photo clubs here there are about 3 Pentax people now besides myself. Two are women and one is a man. My nieces they shoot with whatever I give them, and so far that's mostly been Pentax, Yashica, and Olympus gear. So that's what 3 men I know, 4 women and 2 girls plus myself. That's 7 to 3 in favor of the females...
