Nikkor 180mm f2.8 ED Ai-s on Pentax KX?

Will the subject mentioned manual focus lens fit a Pentax KX? If so, will infinity focus be reached? Besides having the drawback of no autofocus, what other compromises are there? Any vignetting issues? A friend of mine has this lens and wants to part with it, but I didn't know if there was any way to fit it to the Pentax successfully. Thanks in advance, Eric

You can mount it, but as the Pentax and Nikon mounts have differences, you won't be able to lock it on to your camera. So it could work loose. No Auto-Focus. No Auto-Exposure. Behaves as a K or M lens not as an A, F FA or DA lens.

You could replace your lens mount with a new one called the K multi mount or some thing like that.

Regards

Chris

Interesting, I came across this thread while doing a search here:

This must be the multi mount you're talking about. I'll have to see if it will work with this combination, or does anyone know?

You need a lens with aperture controll, since the camera doesn't You can mount it directly or with an adapter.

Thank, guys. Unfortunately, the mult-adapter above won't work as the weight of this lens is too great for the adapter to be reliable. I don't see why I couldn't use a straight metal bar with spacer and hose clamp around the lens, then use the tripod screw to support on the other side. This would greatly remove the weight issue from the camera.

Don't put the weight on the adapter. So monopod on the lens and hold the body. I used an older pre-AI 300mm/f4.5 with adapter, making it effectively 375mm/f5.6 since there is glass in the adapter that makes it like a 1,25x TC. Worked fine and the glass was great. Some fringing, but then again the lens was 40 years old or so.
