I have never tried video on my K-3 that I got last year. For video I use a Sony that is in the same price range as the K-3 and has AUTO FOCUS.

I'm sure I'll get around to trying it just to check it out, but yeah... not the reason I bought a camera, and I'd happy buy one without it.

Tired it once, when the camera was new, just to see if it actually works! Once was enough.

Tried it once on the K-x and it worked great, but the sound quality on the Q is so much better, that's my go-to video camera, especially for live music. If sound quality is a priority, the Q is a pretty ripping good little video cam.

My K10D has no video mode, so I never used it. It have used the video mode on my Olympus P&S however - no sound.

Tried it once on k20, never on K5. It needs a new set of skills and dedication to make it even a little useful, so not necessary for me

Never ever tried and I won't. I think it's something that doesn't belong there.

Nup. I didn't get it for video. I hardly ever shoot video, and when I do want to capture some of the kids' idiocy, I use my phone camera.- Then the file is right there for iMovie, and subsequent sharing with family anyway; using my K-30 would introduce additional steps I just don't need.

I prefer photographs as a medium. I don't see video as part of that same medium, just because they're both visual.

OR, the response would be different if Pentax did try harder.
I dont do video, but I have used video once or twice, but only for some funny family type events. Nothing too special. And for that, the Pentax DSLR video features were enough
I may be wrong in this, but I don't think either of those are the reasons there are so many people in this thread saying "never" or "accidentally". The title of the thread pretty much invites people who don't use video to chime in. If the thread were titled "Who here uses video mode" you'd probably get more responses from people who do. However, if we were to do an actual survey, I think we'd still find in Pentax land more "stills only" shooters than "I need video" users.

As for myself, I'm definitely primarily a stills shooter, but have used K-5, K-30 and K-5iis to do a short documentary on a minority people in China, a couple of advert-like vignettes for conferences as well as numerous interviews. In terms of video features, Pentax is nowhere close to cutting edge, but the actual video quality of the K-5's is quite good..... the K-30 on the other hand has better video features and poor quality.

I honestly wouldn't have a clue what video features my K-30 might have. I thought it was just: turn the dial to video, and the shutter button records video. I confess I can't really think what other features are needed in a video camera... Which I suppose just goes to show much of a videographer I am not.
