The Sigma SD14 uses the same battery charger and batteries as the K20D.
Don't know if that will help much tho...

Doesn't help now, but that's good to know for the future. Thanks!

Does anyone have experience with the CTA brand batteries sold by Cameta through Amazon?

They seem to have decent reviews on Ama.

I prefer the Pentax D-LI50, mainly for the not voiding warranty bit, but I did purchase an Energizer NP-400 replacement(after shipping it was $30 rather than $45) and it seems to be ok, at least for now. I think it's part # ER-D710 or something close to that. I figured Energizer should be pretty reputable, and while some of the aftermarket batteries probably are too, some of them are probably pretty bad. I will say that I had some(actually all but one) aftermarket BP-511s when I owned Canon gear, and I never had a problem with them. At least I know the Energizer brand name, and I already use their Ni-MH AA's in some of my equipment(K100D notably) with no problems. But except for the Energizer NP-400 equivalent, the other 3 batteries I have are all genuine Pentax D-LI50s, obtained from non-discount sources.

I have 2 K10D bodies with 2 original batteries and 6 cheap (3 for 17.00, inc P & P) ones bought from an internet trader. I can detect no difference. Buy some and try them, what can you loose for that price?

I bought a couple of the Minolta batteries from Amazon (IIRC) for $10 each. Can't beat that price, and I haven't noticed any difference in performance compared to my original Pentax battery, or with the 3rd party battery I bought when I got my K10D (yeah, I have 4 batteries - total overkill).

I will say that I've bought some Chinese batteries for other applications (my Epson P2000 and my cell phone) and these batteries lasted about 2-3 charges. They were total ripoffs, so just be aware of that if you're purchasing some known knockoffs. $20 for a knockoff when you can get the Minolta brand for $10 is asking for trouble, IMHO.
