FA50 + WCON-07 vs. FA35

I love my FA50. (Doesn't everyone?) But sometimes the wall gets in my way. i.e., I need something wider. The only thing I have right now is the kit, which is three stops slower. I would eventually like an FA35/2, but it's just not in the cards right now. Nor is the Sigma 17-70 that I'm also hoping for one day.

So what if I slap a 0.7x wide-angle converter on the front? That would turn my 50mm into a 35mm. Obviously, the FA35 is the better option, but when you compare $60 to $400, I'm certainly willing to try the converter.

So, really, I have two questions:

1) Does anyone have a WCON-07 or another 0.7x (or 0.8x I suppose) converter and some sample pics with an FA50? How do they look?

2) Will the extra weight of the conversion lens put too much strain on the AF motor? I'd hate to kill my AF motor just for some wider shots. But I have a new baby coming in six weeks, and I think the FA50 is too tele for the hospital room.
