k10d, grip, and battery question

I just got my k10d and grip. I love it so far. I just have one question for now.

I only have one battery for now and i chose to put it in my grip. I turned the camera on and it said the battery was dead. The battery icon blinked until i switch it off. but when i put the battery in my camera it shows that its full.

Any ideas? Tips, hints? Thanks

Have a look in the menus to find the grip/battery options.
Maybe it is set to not use the grip battery.

Go to SET UP menu, scroll down to SELECT BATTERY and select GRIP FIRST.
It's obviously best to have it in the grip so that you access the battery without taking the grip off.

Just tried it with my camera, took the battery out of the camera and just left the one in the grip and it works fine. maybe something is wrong with your camera.

Try cleaning the contacts on the grip and the bottom of the camera. Use a micro fiber or other lint free cloth and some rubbing alcohol. It sounds as if the grip is not making contact with the camera.

I was going to say I have been using mine in the grip only for ever and no problem. Glad you got it working.

Perhaps check that the contacts between the grip & body are in line - it is possible to screw the grip onto the body leaving a gap between the contacts.
