Originally posted by Cruddola My first dive into digital of my very own was with the K10D in 2006 and added another pair of K20D bodies and grips in 2008. I had moved from my fleet of Nikon F2 and F3 film gear from my days as a Beirut-based UPI shooter back in the 80's. I even had Century Optics convert of my 400 mm f2.8 Ais Nikkors and one of my 600mm f4.0 Ais Nikkors to K-mount. With any of my Tamron 300mm f2.8 Adapt-alls I get focus confirmation anyhow. It's 2023 and I still use those K10 and K20s today. Each of my vehicles has an exact kit that had never left them.
I think you need to prove it by posting some pictures
Quote: Our summers are almost 7-months long and easily reach 120 degrees here along the Mexighanistani border. The Pentaxes and my lenses have held up without a single issue despite being kept in three vehicles. Just a matter of just driving off. The summer monsoons and lightning shows are killer here! My weatherized (and their lousy dead AF) lenses are the perfect menu. After a haboob/blinding dust storm, it's just a matter of rinsing the gear under a showerhead or faucet. No other camera maker offered that back in 2006! I haven't the need to upgrade or do I need full-frame either. I shoot scenic anyhow.
Ok, now I'm really anxious to see some shots!!
Quote: I also shoot almost always manual-mode and manual focus anyhow. I did love the D* AF lenses until their SDM went to shit on all of them. I'm all last generational KAF Sigma 2.8 or faster now. Nine bodies with grips and 15 lenses. I rarely go beyond 400. 100 is where I'm at home. Kinda like my Dark Ages back in the 60's with Ektachrome 64 and Kodachrome 25. I get great 8.5 X11-inch prints! That's all I need or want.
For what I do, they're perfect!
I'm the same way. With the K20D I was at ISO 100-400 most of the time, sometimes 640 if I had to, but I avoided 800 and up. With the K10D and K200D I tend to stay in ISO 100 as much as possible, like you - usually when I open the RAW files it just gives me joy to work on them. I sold the K20D, I like the CCD sensor better on those older cameras... also have the K-S1 and K-S2 because the 20MP sensor is also, in my opinion, very good, but I keep going back to those older cameras if I can help it!
