I think this is a Strauzia longipennis, but I'm not entirely certain. Shot with the D-FA 100/f2.8 Macro.

The K20D Club

I couldn't see a club/thread for K20D: So lets start one. Forgive me if I failed to find an existing one.

I got mine in the post today: It was listed as damaged/faulty, "please see last image". It was a picture of the rear of the camera with an image in review, all I could make out was the review was highlighting over exposure... I slept on it for a night, then decided, why not: and bought it.

Sure enough after a 20 minute play with a lens I had out, I'm not convinced there's anything wrong with it: I think they seen the 'exposure' warning as a fault.

As per my other 'cheapo' pentax's, the firmware is old: I'll take care of that. And it is in perfect condition, with just 1,700 on the shutter count. It has a genuine battery, and charger, although the lead is missing.

I'm busy this week with work: I'll try to get some shots on the week end.

In the mean time: Let's see what this old jigger is capable of.

Congrats on the purchase, almost like new old stock. My first Pentax was the K20D, a very good camera.

Hello,

Cool! I just ordered a replacement battery for mine. My K20D was my first "pro-grade" DSLR about a decade ago. Worth noting in its illustrious career are a massive downpour when I was covering the local carnival parade for the city back in 2015 (remember those? ) and chasing lightning in a thunderstorm.
The K20D and 18-55WR combo is my "Higher risk" kit.

The 21fps burst mode is also interesting.
(Police demo)

Thanks,

You captured some beautiful photos with it. I would love to have a classic D-body. Just to play with.

Nice going mate! I can't say enough about the K20D or K10D. One spent about three hours at the bottom of a 6000 ft. elevation lake thanks to my sister. Her hair was more important when it got caught on the pier's gate. She proved her diving skills in 40 ft. deep stinky and mighty silty water. It was a K10D with the 16-50 D* f2.8. back in 2007. Still runs like new, but the AF died last year. A K20D with the 50-135 D* f2.8 spent the night under the St. Lawrence River's bank's freezing water thanks to me not calculating for the tide in 2014. The lens' AF died about a year before. Anyhow they've been proven to be lake and river-resistant. Both continue to crank out great images. I have since added another three K20D bodies and five more lenses. I don't have a need for full-frame nor do I want full-frame. For that I still have a fleet of Pentax 67 and Mamiya RB67, 4X5 and 8X10 gear. I will probably bleed some of my 401K retirement on a pair of the upcoming K3 mk3 bodies with battery grips.

Thanks,
Hi,
Congratulations on the photographs, especially the lightning and then the rifle shots!

Great find! I've got two K20D's—sort of. One is actually its 'evil twin' the Samsung GX20. I've had the Samsung about five years and the K20D I picked up a little over a year ago. I've also got a K10D that I've had for a little longer than the Samsung. Although they have some age on them, they are still fine cameras, especially for how little I had to pay for them. The K10D and K20D both have exceptionally shutter counts in the four figures (5,700 and 3,100, respectively) and the the Samsung is by no means worn out with just under 15,000 shutter actuations.
