The K20D Club

There clubs for all other Pentax DSLRs so why not one for the K20D? It seems to have been forgotten while the newer Ks have gotten all the attention. I'll start off with a few images.

Hello everyone, I was trying to find a post like this. I´m In Colombia (South America) and Pentax has no representation here, therefore, you almos can´t get pentax gear here, but a I met this Guy with a Store in the airport and was selling a reabate of Pentax cameras, I found the K20D and fell in love inmediatly, I was working with canon for about 7 years and was so bored about that, this camera have wake up my photo spirit again, and I´m so happy to make that change! I feel like I was with the wrong brand, not becouse is bad... just becouse is not for me. Now I have my k20D with grip, and a couple of classics: FA*28-70 f/2.8 and a F50mm f/1.7.. Will post some images soon.

Hi there. Noticed the absence of this club. Will put some pics up later but until then please have a look at the "re purposing the k20" thread for an idea for using this great middle aged camera.
I too look forward to seeing the best images the people have made over the years with this capable camera. Used mine almost daily for 6 years and 50000 shutter presses.

Nice tones, Steve. I don't own a K20D, but could see myself picking one up eventually. I have the K10D, and could of course reuse the grip & batteries. I'm interested in seeing some great images here soon, so I hope your thread takes off!

Pentax body wise all I have is K20Ds, oh and a K10D about the place, so everything I post here on the forum qualifies.

Ah, yes. Love my K20D. I have no reason to upgrade at this point... I'm still pleased with the images that it produces.

With Auto Sears 50mm f/1.7:

With Rikenon XR 28mm f/2.8:

Thanks Steve

I think the last 3 images, in particular, show off the unique K20D (and K7) rendering of colors. I can't get results that I'm as pleased with, using the Sony sensor. That flower shot, it was just done in P mode as an in-camera JPEG on a very sunny afternoon. Just came out like that, I think I did auto levels and added contrast. These are all cheap lenses and the K20D helps make them look good.

With SMC-K 55mm f2 (I call it my 24 dollar treasure):

About the only thing I do different in PP with the K20D is a bit more NR especially at ISO 400 and over.

I wasn't planning to shoot birds but there were some ring billed gulls swooping about. All I had was the DA* 50-135 so these are near 100% crops except for the last one. I hadn't planned to shoot them back lighted either.

My K20D was my first serious digital camera and I love it's colour renderering and sharpness

The one with the Oryx is from the jpeg and the colour is just as it was

Dual Quads

Had to sell my my K20's in 2011, needed higher ISO K5's for theater. This is from a 2010 car show. K20D & DA*50-135, handheld under a open car hood which gave shade.
Printed it at 16x24 on Kodak Endura Metallic. This guy had the whole Edelbrock catalog on this Chevy engine. Gave my son a copy last Christmas, printed on glossy aluminum from Adorama.
