And it will be in C-mount to take advantage of the huge amount of glass available in the cine and cctv world. After all, video is the future...or something like that.
As for my personal preferences, I do believe it is time to discard the letter/number scheme in favor of names that have no meaning, but are vaguely reminiscent of real words or are actual words with an exotic sound. We already have Pentax.
- MF: "Prise'" (pronounced pricey)
- FF: "Mirage"
- Enthusiast APS-C: "Mira" (two thirds of a Mirage)
- Consumer APS-C: "Wanabi" (pronounced wannabee)
- Entry APS-C: "Nubina" (pronounced n00beena)
The rest of the Ricoh and Pentax lines can follow a similar creative bent. Some names might even be clever acronyms (e.g. EOS, FED). Even better, have the names reflect the last names of the current Ricoh corporate board. When a member resigns or is replaced, there can be a disgraceful fire sale of the camera and a triumphant unveiling of the same camera, but with a new name.
