Long story short, I the D-FA 50mm f2.8 macro which I ordered from KEH had a couple of issues, so I ended up returning the lens which got from KEH twice.. I also bought the SMC pentax M 50mm F1.4 which is really good as well. But I loved the macro lens, because the 50mm worked good as a walk around and macro lens as well.

You should still consider to buy a cheap old manual lens. I have an auto chinon 50/1.4 and amazed by the sharpness and overall quality.
I have the Chinon 1.4 also, and find that it is truly excellent. Many of the Sears lens are reputedly from Chinon also, and this I think explains why the Sears 50 mm lens (1.4, 1.7, and 2.0) are so sharp with excellent rendering. The Sears 50 mm 2.0 is generally availabler at giveaway prices, and it truly an outstanding bargain.
