Nikon D600 vs. Pentax K-3 Image Comparison: Pentax Sweeps Nikon
I have a D600 and I think the K01 sweeps nikon too.

edit: The d600 images seems to be a tad brighter and the 85mm F1.8g lens never impressed me -- might be just the pentax 55mm f1.4 outperforming the 85mm F1.8g (at least in colors)

The K01, too? Wow.
I regularly shoot events at high ISOs and never give it a second thought. My K30 with my FA 35mm f/2.0 is my normal event paring.
I'm hoping for a full frame Pentax, but I may just finally pull the trigger on that K3.

I think you would find that a D600 will have better image quality at high iso (probably pretty visible above iso 800). The K3 is more than enough for most situations and is an excellent camera to have.

There have been several places where I have seen comparisons of the k3 to the Sony 24 megapixel sensor and it is pretty close with regard to performance.

I've been shooting a lot recently with a D610, and can confirm that the main difference compared to a K-3 is the extra head-room you get above ISO 6400 with the D610. It is noticeable in the shots, and in the post-processing. However below ISO 6400 there is little difference to be seen in normal use.

Any difference you might see in normal low-ISO use will have more to do with the lenses, the light and the photographer than the camera.

I am not too surprised. The sensor technology is the same and the difference in size between FF and APS-C is not that great. Even a four-thirds sensor will do just fine in good light, I printed 16x24 prints from a four-thirds sensor and it looked ok so long you looked at it from more than 2 ft away.

That being said, it would be nice to have this one extra stop of ISO performance. I only appreciated it when I had to take pictures of people in the dark church (4-5EV).

So basically you say that below 6400 both perform kind of the same?? and in post do you mean by the dynamic range??

I take a lot of night shots so high iso performance is important to me, and is the only thing that i wish the K3 could handle better..

Yes, below ISO 6400 unless you look hard in the shadows it will usually be pretty hard to tell a K-3 shot and a D610 shot apart.

And by 'in post' I mean post-processing - ie once I get the DNG's into the computer and start processing them. The little bit of extra dynamic range [depth of colour, contrast and shadows] left in the D610 images above ISO 6400 helps keep them looking OK for longer as the ISO creeps higher. Even ISO 25600 can still work as a result, whereas a lot of K-3 images will start looking washed out and 'flat' well before then, as well as carry a lot more noise.

Not to say the D610 doesn't have issues of it's own. At the highest ISO's you do notice a lot of purple/magenta noise creeping into the dark areas, which needs work to clean up. But the K-3 has the same issue.

Although I have tried very hard and read a great many pro full frame posts I still fail to see that FF is a great improvement over recent crop sensor models, the K3 in particular. The improvements really seem to be only incremental and not evident in most shooting circumstances. No doubt some users do shoot in those limited areas where FF has advantages but for general photography I cannot see much improvement in most posted photos even when examined at full resolution.

It will only become apparent in poor light. But one more thing for FF is an ability to have am F2.8 with a depth of field of an F2.8 on a full frame. After shooting a wedding where I had to swap primes all the time to get a good depth of field, I can really see the advantage. I would be quite ok with a 16-50 F2.0 though, instead of full frame, or an 18-35mm F1.8 in a pinch. I know olympus made a range of F2.0 zooms. I see no reason why Pentax couldn't take the 28-70mm design and equip it with a focal reducer to make it a 18-50 F2.0 for APS-C. That's roughly how Olympus's 35-100 F2.0 was born, apparently.
