K5iis deal

Did I mess up not getting cam/grip/64 MB card for $596 at B&H/Adorama?

It was a great deal, one of the rarer ones, I'd say. But the current K-3 deals are also fantastic.

I thought about that one also. I have been reading the comparisons between the K5IIs and the K3, somewhat oscillating between the two. For me, my K5 is so good, that some lens upgrades and swaps are more important. However in going to AF much more heavily, better AF in the body will I think help the lenses a lot more.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

The deal is on again at Adorama, but I can't seem to make the move. I'm hoping for some movement on the K3 with holidays approaching. I don't see these going up.

To the above note on fantastic K-3 prices, I found this on B&H -

I think I am going to go for the 60-250 first, and then see how everything pans out in terms of sales and prices. If I could actually decide between the K3 or the K5IIs would actually help.

For another $50 you can also get an AF-540 FGZ Flash to go along with your new kit! Don't need the flash?? Sell it and / or the grip, K3 body is then ridiculously cheap!

This is a very good idea. Camera prices will continue to fall. Lens prices are pretty stable. Besides the DA*60-250 will make a far bigger difference in your pictures than the difference between the K5iis and the K3, wonderful as both cameras are. DA* 60-250 is a prime reason to stay with Pentax. A magic, multipurpose lens.

I got the B&H deal and added another -IIs for future need (not drawn to the K-3, thus far), and, lest anyone think these are old stock, my new one was mfd. May 2014.

Seems recent to me, at least.

It is interesting to see that the K5iis might still be in production. I would not have expected it to still be being produced in May 2014.

Assuming you can get a decent price for them... they've come down a lot since they started getting bundled so much.

True, but even 50% of retail for those items would mean you'd get a flagship model camera for about the price of an entry level one.

Oh, that makes me happy. I'm much more interested in the IIs (or II) than the K-3... it's the, for me, by far better camera.

Me too! I will continue to use the K3 most but I would really like to get a K5IIs again as my second camera.
