I doubt it. This looks like a video sensor, only 4.8mp.

Once they get a 5mp version working well, normal engineering progression could easily lead to a larger one.
Presumably the Sony camera line would get it before anyone else could even think about it.

A sensor with more megapixels would be a different sensor, so my reply stands.

The backlit technology Sony announced for cell phone cameras and used in Pentax's WG cameras has never made it to APS-c. I assume there are technical reasons for that. The fact that something is announced for small sensors doesn't mean the same technology will be developed for larger sensors. Things it seems, are a little more complicated than that.

Looks like Fuji is working on a new sensor too.

INeresting, but it looks like it was designed for APS-c. Sony still hasn't made an APS_c sensor. On the organics, it's long been rumour canon is working on an organic sensor, and that that's why they've fallen so far behind everyone else. The theory is they've been behind, but they're about to jump way ahead.

The new Sony sensor that Winder linked is APS-C.

I don't believe a 23.5 diagonal makes it APS-c, don't make me use my Pythagorean Theorem on you,

---------- Post added 11-12-14 at 01:09 PM ----------

Looking at the Samsung 28 MP and K-3 at 3200 ISO, man I hate it when the latest greatest new stuff isn't as good as what you're using. What am I supposed to get excited about now? Maybe it's just Samsung sucks...

Some one say something stupid, like, "well it's not as good right now but it has more potential, "

Oops, I saw 1.5 sensor and read 1.5X crop. It is smaller than APS-C, larger than m4/3, as used in the 1.5" Canon G1 X Mark II.

I'm referring to the technology not the specific sensor. The sensor represents new technology.

Nikon also filing a patent on a sensor with honeycomb pixel pattern. Like the old Fuji Super CCD.

i think all brands are trying to see what else can be done other than the current bayer cmos sensors. Exciting times, though i doubt we will see anything truly revolutionary in the next year or two

Interesting.

I wonder what the effective "shutter speed" of each of the three color captures works out at,
and how long it takes to complete the sequence..
