How many shots do you take a year?

I just backed up some of my library to DVD. It took 7 single layer disks to archive 2007. As I was looking at the folders, I noticed the following:

2002 --- 1340 shots
2003 --- 1860 shots
2004 --- 2630 shots
2005 --- 3340 shots
2006 --- 5840 shots
2007 --- 8130 shots (bought K10D)

2008 so far - 2330 shots.

This year may be a little less than last year, but each year it grew, pretty substantially. In addition, each camera I have owned has been higher MP than the last - 3 to 5 to 10. I hope this trend does not continue too far, as I may have to invest in a power plant to run the file server farm!

So, how many shots to you others take per year? Am I an anomaly or is this a small number to shoot? It is mostly of family, although because I am liking my K10D more and more, I am trying to take other types of shots as well - macro, nature.

Bought my K100D in January this year, and I think the shutter count is past 6000 now.

Before that, I have no idea, nor do I think it was much.

I've taken probably close to 1000 pictures in 2 months.
I'm trying to keep the number down, as the shutter has a limited lifetime.

Just checked the Photo directory on the PC - 9754 files 14.8 gigabytes.
I would guess over half have been added in the last year.

About 5,000 in the last year if you only count the K110D.

12,500 pictures taken in 18 months. 553 are still on file and probably need to delete 150 of those. So the answer is either 12,500 or 403 depending on how you want to look at it in 18 months.

June 2004: first camera I really "got into", KM Dimage Z2.
June 2004 - February 2006: 5500 photos (and I thought that was a lot!)

Feb 2006: Panasonic FZ30
February 2006 - March 2008: 11500 photos

March 2008: K10D
March 2008 - May 2008: 4000 photos

This stuff is exponential!

I have between 3000 and 4000 pictures / year in my photo library for the last 5 years. It is about 1000 pictures taken with my Pentax DSLR and 2000 pictures taken with my wife's P&S (not Pentax).

You aren't likely to see problems until you get to around 50k actuations.

So, I guess ~5000 shots a year is not wild... not totally out there, but not skimpy either.

Just wondered....

well, in 20-ish days (over April and May) - 9300 images

It's actually 26 days so far, but little is taken on the travel days to and from being on location.

About 9300 images between 3 cameras:

8200 on the Canon 40D (it's got a Sigma 500/4.5 attached, so it's the birding camera)
1800 on the K20D
300 on the K10D.

I'm back for one more trip: May 30th - June 9th. So it should easily hit mid- 10K if all goes well.

I have two 8GB CF cards; two 8GB, two 4GB, four 2GB SD cards. Heck, I'm about to buy some bigger drives for my external enclosures... those 320GB units are about ready to fill up. I'm on a photo competition, and when it comes to wildlife, more is always better.... Too many slightly OOF images in the birding attempts - very difficult on the AF.

Cheers,
Marc

Had my K10D for a year now, give or take a week. EXIF shutter count from my last shot (image number 5298) shows 8255.
