Unfortunately, I doubt any of us can recommend which one of those lenses would be best for you. They are probably very close in quality. The 50 is a tiny bit faster, but I personally don't have any experience with it. I know the DA 35 is a fantastic value lens.

Personally, I would prefer the 35 because I would be more comfortable with the a wider view much of the time. However, I have no idea what your preference would be.

my only dilemma is which lens to choose...
Pentax SMCP-DA 50mm f/1.8 OR Pentax SMCP-DA 35mm f/2.4 AL both are priced at ~100$ each.
Thoughts...

Until the lens is chosen, the camera's not really chosen

The 35mm would be more general purpose; you could make a photo of any subject with it as long as you aren't too picky and/or can walk, run and jump to a good vantage point. You'll probably find more people who live with a 35mm as their only lens than you would find the same for a 50.

The 50mm would be a great choice if you want to focus on more abstracted views, indoor sports, portraits, ...? It has lovely circular bokeh.

The good thing is, those are both fine choices.

the decision was made for me, the 35mm is out of stock...

did get two used lenses:

Pentax-m 75-150/4.0 Lens
Pentax-a 35-70 3.5 4.5 Macro Lens

what do you think?
