This works well. I use it on a tripod mounted camera in a large dance studio. I trigger it as I move around the studio, shooting with a second body.

Well if you if you go for wireless remote shutter instead of just IR, perhaps would be good to have intervalometer function also, maybe you can try some timelapse, who knows. Or for that kind of night long exposures where you first shoot at highest possible ISO and largest aperture, then you calculate the required exposure time by compensating for stopping down aperture and lowering ISO.
