Haven't cracked one myself, thought there might be a chip inside for the extra contacts.

Here are pictures of the K-3 and K-5 battery bays.
There are only two contacts, one meets the - terminal on the battery and the other meets the + terminal on the battery.
There are no contacts at the camera for the 3rd or 4th battery terminals.
