Thanks you all for the kind words. The Jeep is a 1997 model so I don't think Jeep would be very interested. Hopefully, the next sojourn will be Canyonlands and Arches National Parks in SE Utah. I'll have to save a while to buy the gasoline.

There are probably a million photos of the arches on the internet and elsewhere but it's not like being there and creating memories. I've always thought that the secret to photography is "being there". A photographer can have the best skills but he has to be there to seize the opportunity or moment.

Having said that, I'm sick of taking photos in my back yard.

I'm a crazy Pentaxian, who drives a jeep also. Nice shots posted so far. I love the ability of my jeep to take me where ever I want to go, and my Pentax for taking great shots when I get there. Just a snapshot here from a camping trip last summer with some freinds, my jeep is the green one.

Actually, I think that Jeep would have been proud of that picture for advertisement. More importantly, doesn't this picture remind you of good times? If it does, it's not just a snapshot. it a priceless souvenir.

Regards,

Yvon Bourque
Thats a great way to look at the photo. Too often, I get carried away looking critically at the photo and forget what memories the moment brings.

Did you take it back to the rental company that way? Would have been a great opportunity to get one of those priceless expressions photos if you did...

Yeah, should have skipped the car cleaning and opted for the priceless photo instead. This was during a 1 or 2 week trip thru CA, AZ and UT, believe it was Joshua Tree NP.

I once did the same in Australia with a limousine and later discovered that dirt roads were not allowed to be used... You would never believe how hard it is to clean up dirt from a dirt road

P.S.
I didn't manage to get the car more dirty than shown. Somehow, the dirt falls off beyond a certain point

Here's a highly modified Land Rover gracing the Welsh landscape.

I'm a lifelong off road enthusiast who competes in off road trials here in the UK, and when I can afford it I go to the US and wreck rental Jeeps in Moab or Colorado.
( I have pic's somewhere of a $1000 recovery near Escalante! )

It's the major reason I chose the Pentax K10 after many years of being a Canon man, I wreck stuff, and so far the weatherproof, rugged K10 has never failed me.
