Sales figures for the K series?

Idle curiosity at work here. Pentax started to produce the K10D in early Nov.. The projection was 13,000 units a month. Would love to know how many K100D, K110D, and K10D's were sold Nov. 1 through Jan 31. The numbers will tell us a lot about what will be happening to Pentax. Anybody got any inside info?

Regards,

I have no idea Ken, but I do know that the K10D and the K100D are the #1 and #2 selling DSLR cameras in Japan, respectively.

Ken, it was somewhere/somewhen on DPR. I remember reading it at the time and thinking that the poster was one of the "reliable" sorts, and I could probably take the info with some degree of confidence.

Well, you can try to search DPR if you want. I do remember reading it and thinking it was a reliable source, but whatever floats your boat.

NaCl(the search engine over at DPR really sucks and I don't have the time anyway)H2O

I saw this posting here...

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-releases/1783-dslr-popularity-japan.html

That's interesting chart there, Randy. 10% of the market isn't too shabby. What happened to Olympus?

Ken, here's the link:2006年デジタルカメラ人気投票――結果*表
I misremembered it somewhat. It's not sales but popularity, which can mean a whole different ball of wax. It's the same one that Alvin linked above. Also it wasn't one and two but one and three.

NaCl(I was close but kinda way off too)H2O

Either I'm misreading you, or you're misreading the Japanese.

The rows across the top, left to right, read:

Ranking / Maker / Series / Resolution / Date of Release / Sales Share

From top to bottom it is:

1. Canon
2. Nikon
3. Nikon
4. Nikon
5. Sony
6. Pentax
7. Nikon
8. Canon
9. Pentax
10. Canon

The items in red have some form of internal shake reduction and the data is from the second week of December, 2006.

Data is the top 10 models of interchangeable lens SLRs, including all color variations and lens kit combos.

As you can see, The K10 and the K100 combined only account for 9.1% in Japan. I have to tell you, I live in Japan and in the stores I have gone to Pentax is allocated about the same amount of space that Macs get in PC shops.
