K10D - worth buying?

Do you think K10D is still worth buying for around $100? Saw one today at a local shop and was thinking as I still have quite a few Pentax lenses which I kept in hope of Pentax FF.

Please share your opinion.

I still have my K10D, bought new in 2007. I still use it, it still produces great pix. It's robust and a wonderful piece of photographic equipment. So, yes...if the K10D works and is in good shape....I would buy it.

I think that all depends on what $100 is to you, and what you may be lacking with your current cameras (AF on some good lenses).

Check out the K10D thread here https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/242738-k10d-club.html! I love this camera so much, that I just bought a second one! Yes, if it's in good shape, it's well worth $100. The colors from this camera are what many rave about, and I agree!

Yes I would have thought so, it still has a place in my heart in terms of the way it so beautifully renders colours..

K10 was my first DSLR and traveled a great part of the world that was especially sandy Our daughter recently took a trip and used this camera. Still produces awesome photos. There is always the allure of bigger and better, I find this is a nice price for a wonderful camera that I am sure you'll be pleased. Let us know of how you decide and share some photographs.

Did you get rid of all your other Pentax bodies? In any case, I would personally probably rather pay a little bit more for a K-50 or a K-30, as the difference is huge if you use the cameras next to each other.

Yes , and no !
Why do you want it ?
If its nostalgia or you really want a K10 , then by all means .. It still takes great pictures ( as mentioned )

Can it compete with more modern cameras ( K30 - K50 - K5 - K3 ) , not really !
But if the heart craves a K10 , then by all means give the heart some K10 goodness .. Its only $100 , that's what ? 10 trips to burger king or Smacky Donalds !

I have had both the K10 and the K20, the K20 has greater dynamic range and is closer to a modern day DSLR, shadows can be brought up better and it has a bigger screen and 5Mps more, it's possible to find one for $150!

I own two K10Ds and use them frequently because I absolutely love the color rendition. I rarely need high ISO, my printer stops at 13x19, and I have several other options. For me the K10D fits my vision a lot of the time. But it may not fit yours.

However, if you have a starving student budget then $100 for a K10D is a great start. After all, it did win a lot of awards in its day. It isn't the perfect camera but it is a very nice camera. And once you have used it for a year or more you will have a very good idea what you like and don't like about it. That will prepare you to shop for your next one.

I finally upgraded to a K3 this year from my K10D. I still have my K10D and use it for manual lens. If the camera is in decent shape and does not have an extremely high shutter count, I would sayou it is worth it. You could check the shutter count on the forums here if you had jpeg file to upload from the camera.

I used a K10D for several years. It never let me down. I sold it awhile ago and will probably be sorry I did. If that one works, you can't loose for $100.

I agree with Adam, I have a now 6 year old (I think) K10D in perfect working condition. Absolutely nothing wrong with it and it takes great pictures but it is just not in the same league as my K5 and K3. I would imagine that newer cameras with same sensor as the K5 such as the K30 and K50 would be better in the long run. For my son who will get the K10D as a freebie it is a great deal but if you are looking to buy used, a newer model would be a better choice.

yes, my last serious DSLR was K-5 which I sold over an year back. Not sure if it was a mistake but it was seeing only the forced usage. However, I kept lenses as I regularly shoot film on Pentax bodies and also use them on Sony.

I agree with the general consensus here that it's no match to the current generation of cameras. I myself not sure why I was drawn to it, possibly because it was offered cheap and the weather sealing so that I can use it in bad weather, but then I have no WR lenses except 50-135. Maybe I will pass. Thanks all of you for your views.
