K5 IIs interval shooting gives me a bunch of black frames...

hey guys, I have searched interval shooting quite a bit and have not found anything that addresses my issue. I am trying to shoot astro time lapse with the built in intervalometer with zero success. I am set for JPEG, NR is on, 20 second exposure at ISO 800, timer set for every 36 seconds. The camera seems to oem the shutter and take a series of pics, but when I look at the playback, I just have several black frames to scroll through. I'm sorry if I have missed something well documented here. Forgive my noobishness!

Turn off noise reduction, I think you'll see a positive difference.

Good luck. Remember that points of isolated light might be interpreted by the algorithm as noise.

Haha! Problem solved...I hate to admit it, but I pulled up one of the dark frames in LR and saw that the exposure was set to 1/20...oops. Like I said, noobishness.

That would do it. We've all done stuff like that.

Yes it does. As does the K-30, K-50, K-01, and older K-5.. all have built in intervalometer. :c )

On the K-5II, to access the intervalometer mode, press MENU, scroll right to the [2] menu, then down to 'Interval Shooting' mode (second from bottom on number [2] menu), then another right button press to enter the intervalometer settings.

Your noise reduction time is the same as your picturetaking time. So 20s + 20s makes up more then the 36 seconds interval.

Hmmmm...Ron, my NR time is actually lower than the exposure time. It's maybe 6 or 8 seconds.
