K100D loses date on power off - help!

Hello. I have a K100D that is only 1.5 years old. Whenever I turn off the power, the date/time resets back to 1/1/2006. For example, I turn it on, immediately get the "set the date" display, change the month to 02, press OK, wait a second, turn the camera off, immediately turn it back on, and the date is reset back to 01/01/2006 again (it again is displaying the change date screen) - all within a few seconds.

Note that I am NOT removing the batteries, and the batteries are well-charged.

I saw on another thread on this forum that apparently other Pentax digital cameras have an extra battery somewhere that might be the source of the problem. I can find no mention in the owner's manual of such an extra battery in this camera - does it have one?

Otherwise, how can I fix this?

Thank you all for your help!

Mel
