Selective Histogram - Suggestion for Ricoh (or education for me)
I took a cloudy sunset photo this week that had four discrete layers of exposure and colour (with a K20D.) Foreground land, distant land, lower sky and upper sky. I have gone through the usual process of printing proofs to fine tune the exposure balance between each layer and during this process utilized LR5's ability to display a histrogram of the cropped area only. It occurred to me that this would have been quite handy to have in-camera to set up and adjust the ND filters I was using.
So ...
a) If the K3/K5ii DSLR's feature this, please let me know. If not, ...
b) Suggestion for Ricoh: Program the next flagship with the ability to display a histogram of the zoomed image playback displayed in the DSLR viewfinder. The benefit would be the ability to discretely check foreground and distant exposure to balance the overall exposure and filter arrangement.
It wouldn't be that difficult to achieve, even in existing models I'd imagine.
