In many ways, the K10D is an excellent camera - especially for shooting in good light up to ISO 400. The K10D and K20D were among the most dependable cameras made by Pentax (or perhaps anyone). My K20D (which I'm selling - but not a priority, frankly) performed flawlessly. It has somewhat better low-light capability than the K10D and istD series, but not quite as good as the KX or newer bodies. The K10/20D is a much more flagship design than the KX, and will allow you more flexibility, features, better focusing (especially quicker on the K20D) and you can expect trouble-free operation for many years. The K10/20D is larger, but not as heavy as the magnesium bodies (K-3). WR is excellent on the K10/20D. Several minor updates were made on the K20D, including a very limited live view function that can help with macro shooting (but not much else).
All of these newer cameras will be quicker, with better menus than the istDS, and nicer screens. The only thing about the istDS you might notice is slightly better IQ in low light than the K10D - probably just a function of the larger pixels on the 6 mp sensor.
You got a lot for your old body. You can get a K20D in excellent condition for not much more - and its a lot more camera, frankly.
