I like my Canon for every day stuff. But...I am doing more low light and the Canon isn't as good at a higher iso. Plus on the fixed lenses there is no stabilization, which if I'm not using a tripod forces the technique to a higher iso presents a little bit of an issue. I would still keep my Canon because that is what my son shoots and so I would be able to use his equipment anyways.
The K-5 II is good at low light, but the K-3 is better at AF. In your case I think I'd go for the K-3 then. It's quite a camera. After all you are used to a pretty decent DSLR already, so a K-S1 or K-50 would feel like a downgrade. If your budget says no, then go for the K-5 II.

Slightly wincing at the use of a non WR lens in the rain...
+1 here... Is that a fine D FA 50mm macro lens? I hope it survives!

My 18-55 kit lens has survived much worse, including some weird hot sirup/juice from McDonalds... lenses seem tougher than we give them credit for.

I know, I know ... we all did much worse back when film reigned supreme. Still, I wouldn't want to risk a nice $300 D FA 50mm lens in the rain.

Y'all are funny
Just finished shooting some Funko's with the same lens that was "rained" on, it's still functioning.
I'm action sports photographer if this little Pentax lens can't handle a little bit of rain water and being knocked to the ground.
I better stick with my Sigma lens that have seen worst.
Unfortunately,I don't have that luxury to "baby" my gear during a paid shoot whether it's a nice sunny day or freezing rain.

Ahhh! There's the difference. You get paid to shoot. I have to pay to shoot!

Pentax, but two generations behind. I'm cheap that way. I'll buy a K-3, used, after the first FF is released.

K-5 is mostly good enough.

Well... Rain/condensation hit my old k-x inAlaska along with the Sigma 18-200mm
OVF and lens fogged up. Someone was kind enough to lend me their Sigma 120-400mm. While my lens eventually dried out, it has traces of where the condensation left its mark. Recommend keeping some rice nearby to suck the moisture out quickly if this happens to you.
