I triple boot Windows 7, Debian 7.7, & Fedora 21. I use GIMP with UFRAW or Darktable or Lightzone. I typically use Debian since it's more stable. I just play around with Fedora, since it's the complete opposite of Debian.

^ Open source raw editing. It doesn't work for the latest version of Fedora. It seems like they're going to release a newer version later on, though.

This is also available for Windows for those that are too poor for Light Room. Kinda like me. Haha!
I attempted to try Lightzone, but site doesn't seem to still be maintained, all of the SUSE repositories links are broken and forum isn't accepting new thread posts, and when I attempted to email the site contact I had a return with "permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

I moved to DNG files for compatibility reasons years ago.
Never looked back.

UFRaw and GIMP do all my editing on any platform now.

Interesting. I just went on their site & logged in. Even got the link for the Linux downloads.

https://github.com/Aries85/LightZone/wiki/LightZone-4.0.0

They have been very quiet lately, though. Maybe the owner is occupied with other stuff.

There is always Darktable. It's also pretty awesome.

darktable | the photo workflow software

You should be able to get through the openSUSE software center.

yeah thanks, you did see where I said the repositories keys were the broken links right? I can also go to github, but attempting to run the commands to add the repositories fails with the below 404 error. and of course simply running zypper install without the the repositories would fail with a no provider wouldn't it. but I've downloaded darktable and digiKam. so I'm good.

# zypper install lightzone
