The issue with the K7 is that when it came out, it was the high ISO champ.
Then came the entry level Kx and it blew the K7 away in ISO performance.

Lightroom 4 or 5 can clean up the noise well enough. The sensor has more color/chroma noise than luminance. The dynamic range really falls at higher ISOs, though. I think at 6400 the camera has 5 stops or less of DR. That means even when the noise is gone, there is less remaining detail. My limit was 1600, but I have some decent shots at 3200. I don't think I got any good 6400 shots.

Faster lenses help. You have to set an upper limit on modes like TAv that set ISO automatically. Use technique to steady the camera for lower shutter speeds.

I purchased the k7 about 1 year after its initial release. It was/is competitive with its contemporaries with raw files. If memory serves it preformed a little less well when compared via jpegs. Imo it does suck at anything over 800 iso or so. In an attempt to offset this, my first lens purchase was a super tak 1.4. Being an available light shooter, the fast lens made the camera much more usable for me.
