Who's sticking with APSc?

Title says it all

I'm going to stick to APSc; rather invest the money in the new 150-450.

I plan to sell my K-5IIs, keep my K-3 for birding and go FF.

The correct answer is "mix" - both systems are good and both have their strong and weak points.

It is indeed a personal choice. It can be changed quickly if some trends happen. For example, People can still stick to blackberry or Nokia now but most of people had changed their cellphones to iPhone or android.

I'm a size freak, small is good. Nothing that I worry about would improve sufficiently in my shots. Were funds to magically become available, I reserve the right to be wrong on this

I have no loyalty to APS necessarily but I'm not about to throw the format under the bus. My K-3 works just fine. When the time and cost is right I'll probably go FF.

For my purposes APS-C is more than good enough.

I am interested in FF, but the size concerns me. I like the smaller size and weight of APS-C bodies and I have small hands, so they fit me well. If the FF is well received and the price drops to some level I'm comfortable with, I may decide to get one, but I would keep the K-30 for wildlife/telephoto stuff and for when I couldn't carry something heavy.

I have no intension of going FF. With our K5 and K5iis we can do whatever we want now and if for a certain project that requires a full frame I will borrow a D4 or D800e with the expensive lenses. Currently have no plans on even adding anymore lenses unless we decide on a WR one.

Pentax digital and film are not my favourite format even if I use them more than the Hasselblads and certainly more than the Large format gear.

Personally I am very pleased to see the new lenses , full frame and the new APS-C cameras Pentax has recently introduced or announced even if none of them are needed by myself or my wife. I am thinking of getting a zone plate lens for our Pentax system but other than that I am very content with what I have.

I'm excited about the new FF, especially the possibility to use all my old glass at their originally
designed FOV. 28mm is wide again. 50mm is once again useable at close quarters.

But having just acquired a K-3, I am in no rush. I look forward to a day having an APS, FF and
Q bodies, each offering a unique range and feel to the various lenses in my collection. Good
times ahead.

The resolution on my K-3 is such, I can't imaging why I'd want to go to FF. My images compare quite favourably to my buddy's FF images. The only thing that could possibly sell me would be 2 stops better dynamic range, 2 stops better noise at high ISO. So if I could shoot clean images at 3200 ISO with no need of noise reduction, I might consider it. That would allow me to shoot at 1/2000 second for birds in flight, and in darker circumstances for wildlife at dusk and dawn. One stop is a yawner, and not worth losing magnification for. One stop gets me to 1600 ISO and I already shoot there if I have to. SO having the image a little better wouldn't be worth paying thousands for.

I'm just wondering what will happen to prices on used DA and DA* lenses. Will they go down as the Pentaxian Pros move into FF and start selling off their old gear?

Or will they only increase now that Pros from Cannikon can jump into the Pentax line and start playing around with our beloved toys?

Will the lenses that cover both APS-C and FF increase in value, but the APS-C lenses decline?

Exciting times to be a Pentaxian!

To paraphrase someone else here: Pentax need full frame much more than I need it. If it costs €1200+, I will be out of the reckoning.
