I use the top LCD a lot, and probably wouldn't get a camera without one. It's so much more convenient than trying to see all the info on the rear screen or through the viewfinder.

Same with me.

When I switched to Pentax with a used ME Super in 1981, I never became too familiar not being able to see the set exposure time BEFORE looking through the viewfinder. I did not mind the buttons, so the Super A (Super Program) with its small LCD on the top was a big advantage for my work flow.

I don't think I would ever buy a DSLR without top display.
