The true pixel count for the finished image is 24.06. Total count for sensor is 24.71 with the effective count (those involved in image processing) being 24.35. I suspect that someone in marketing had a slip of the finger and typed 23.35 rather than 24.35 at some point and the rest is history.

Thanks, I looked at some other Ricoh/pentax sites and it looks like the US site shows 23.35 and others (UK, Canada, France etc.) show 24.35.
I guess my problem was that it is hard to get an image size of 6016x4000 from only 23.35MP.
24.06MP from 24.35MP is probably much easier...
and, someone should probably update the US webpage....
