Any old cheap manual wide angle lens? I want to take some landscape on my Pentax K3. Currently using D3100 with kit lens.

Thank you.

What do you consider "wide angle"? 28mm? 24mm? Cheap seems to end at about 28mm, depending on your definition of 'cheap'.

Sounds like a job for an old Sigma Mini Wide....

Of course the 18-55 kit lens got me a couple pics in a magazine before, and if you can find it the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8-4.5 HSM is pixel peeping sharp, and certainly beat the snot out of the Sigma 20 f/1.8 EX I had for 150 bucks.

Under that price I think the K 24 2.8 is your best choice (Pentax)...I am not sure about other brands

Vivitar made 21mm (T4 mount) and an adapter to M42 allows use. I use this lens on a K-x for theater photography. Moderate resolution (at f/5.6) but almost no distortion. Likely less than $200--I got it for $100 as I recall about 6 years ago.

Also 17mm tamron adaptall-2 SP, thus a PK or PKA adapter works. About $200 at B&H or KEH (and another $20-$50 about for a PK or PKA adapter). A very common lens. Based on reviews it appears to be well though of, and more modern as PKA is possible.

The Vivitar needs to be modified to be stop down manual aperture (unless you find a M42 to PK adapter that stops lens closed). There are a number of lenses in the 20mm vicinity for about $200--just not so common.

OH--vis-a-vis above earlier post--I have the 24mm f/3.5 takumar. And while nice it is quite a bit "less wide" (especially as regards near-far relationships--IMO)--and similar price range--and possibly more.

Your number one option under 200 or at 200 will be a used Pentax 16-45 f4. It is in my LBA list... for now I am happy with the Tokina 19-35mm 3.5-4.5 - very good at the wide end from 5.6 on. At f8 I bet its still a good match for the 24mp sensor - it is very sharp. Great colors too. I got mine for less than 100 last year. The fact that it is autofocus is a bonus

The only prime option in your price range I think is going to be the manual 24mm 2.8 lenses, and those might not be wide enough. The Sigma is the highest rated when these questions come up.

There are also the 17-35 2.8-4 AF lenses from Tamron and Sigma. That is probably about it, other than rare lenses like the 20 2.8 russians sold under I think Soligor... and the Tokina 17mm 3.5 that also is hard to come by these days.

Sigma superwide II....Vivitar , Spiratone YS...... and other 24mm lenses can be had for $40 to $100 on Ebay.
There is a Sigma Superwide II 24mm 2.8 that ends in 30 minutes for 36 bucks...buy it now was $60 but some Dork decided to bid instead. Here is the link..... It looks quite good and I would snatch it in a second. I bet its going to go for over $60 the last minute for sure....we shall see...lol.

Probably the best bet is the DA 16-45/f4 They go for around $200 used since they have been discontinued a couple of years ago.

Something wider than 16 with equal or better image quality, at the same price is going to be a challenge. Going up $100+ you get into the wider Samyang prime lenses at 16, 14 and 10mm. There is also the Pentax DA 14/f2.8, but that is also more expensive.

There is also the Zenitar 16mm f2.8 Fisheye in a K mount. The lens is a FF fisheye, but on a cropped frame it looses a lot of the FE effect but is not totally rectilinear, but its at the $200 price point.

The older M42 lenses and original K lenses, 15mm is really the widest, and they are difficult to find and very expensive.

The last one sold for close to 170 in the last minute, so I bet it will go up quite a bit. I blame the FF announcement.
