Can it be autofocus?

I would suggest a 19-35mm F3.5-4.5. They came under many names, like vivitar or quantaray. You can have one below ~$100 and it is an acceptable lens. Another option is Sigma mini wide (24mm F2.8), but it's harder to find and more expensive.

Here's a review of a cosina version, note above 8 rating for an AF wide angle under $100. Very good deal.
Cosina 19-35mm AF f3.5-4.5 Lens Reviews - Cosina Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

and vivitar:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/vivitar-series-1-19-35mm-f3-5-45.html

If you want MF version, here's in ex+ from a reputable dealer for $99
https://www.keh.com/242378/vivitar-19-35mm-f-3-5-4-5-a-2-touch-manual-focus-...tax-k-mount-77
and here's AF for $89

If you are willing to spend a bit more, there is a rokinon 14mm F2.8, which is now around $250 and is very good and finally, 16-45mm DA, which is under $200 and excellent.

I really liked the SMC 17mm Fish-Eye, but it cost more than a typical used DA16-45 (and both are f/4) - so I agree, the zoom is the best wide bargain.

I'd actually go with the 16-45 for under 200. It is autofocus, constant aperture, and I've seen some great images taken with it, plus it gets you nice and wide.

And what's wrong with 18-55mm btw? It's below $50 and quite okay as well.

A-series slow but at f8 supposedly good.

M42 http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=111615755044&alt=web

The 16-45 da lens is probably better.

Sigma superwide II....Vivitar , Spiratone YS...... and other 24mm lenses can be had for $40 to $100 on Ebay.
There is a Sigma Superwide II 24mm 2.8 that ends in 30 minutes for 36 bucks...buy it now was $60 but some Dork decided to bid instead. Here is the link..... It looks quite good and I would snatch it in a second. I bet its going to go for over $60 the last minute for sure....we shall see...lol.
Used Sigma 24mm F 2 8 Super Wide II Pentax K Mount Manual Lens | eBay
$79 that could have been a deal... the af versions go for more, but the mf versions are built better.

another option, vivitar 24mm 2.8, for less money:

here is what it looks like at f/10, shooting a wide landscape:

I believe Samyang 14mm is cheap and good as it gets. Unfortunately there are not many good and cheap old lenses, may be up to 24-28mm but thats it. Again, samyang is dirt cheap on second hand market

'Wide' starts at 24mm on APS-C. As others have said the best of the cheap manual focus 24mm is the Sigma Super-wide II.

I picked up mine in September from Shopgoodwill.com attached to a K1000. It was $78 after shipping, but that included the K1000, Sigma AF 75-300, and a F-mount Cosina 28mm.

As far as 24mm not being wide enough...I say stitch.
