Weather Resistance Question

I have the K-5IIs and two WR lenses. But my question applies to all the weather resistant cameras and lenses. I understand that the camera and lenses have many seals to prevent a water breach. However, I do not see any seal between the lens and the camera. So, how weather resistant is this system? Just wondering.

Look at the mount on the lens, just outside the metal is an o-ring (or seal that looks like an o-ring) that will be compressed against the camera mount when the lens is mounted. Some of the O-rings are black so the aren't real noticeable, red ones stand out.

The red ring below is the gasket. On premium lenses, the gasket is black so you've probably never noticed it.

AHA!

Many thanks for clearing this up.

This is just another one of those little gnawing details that I am gradually getting squared away.

This had me so confused when I first switched to Pentax. My first lens was a da* and I thought it was missing the gasket because I saw it was red on the 18-135 photo.
