New Pentaxian...

Well I bought a K100D super about 2 weeks ago now....
Loving it by the way....
and a tameron 70-300 lens from my local kodak shop, 100 cheaper than jessops!
@ only 90!!!!!!!!!

well went round my brothers house last nite...
with the Pentax K100D and 70-300 lens...
oh yeah and a canon EOS 300D that I'd picked up that day at a second hand shop for 60 with 18-55 lens.....

So my brother has been looking for a good camera for a while but cant make his mind up!
So he looked at the Canon.... his reaction "What a pile of rubbish" his words.
then out came the Pentax.... His face lit up!
He grabbed it from me and spent most of the night with it!

That made his mind up!
He is going to buy a Pentax K100D Super this saturday and the same Tameron 70-300mm lens too, later to be folloed by a 100-500mm lens!

Result!
So yet another Pentaxian!

Great job! Your brother won't be disappointed. I made my decision to go Pentax and pick up a 200D after using my dad's *ist-D a few times.

Nice story. Both of you will enjoy the new cameras. Dslr photography is a lot of fun. Might be some friendly competitions with each other. That was a cheap price for the Canon. Would have bought it to just play with.
Thanks

Not to condemn your brother's decision to buy a K100D super, but I dont think it's a fair comparision with a model thats more than 5 years old.

Nevertheless Congratulations on your buy and an advanced one for your bruva..!!

Cheers
Nish

Well it was looks he went on not the functions
He didnt like its feel in his hand...

I bought the Canon coz it was stupidly cheap!
But the lenses are not....
EOS 300D dont look that bad and all I need now is an CF card for it.....

I'd sell the Canon (should be pretty easy to do) and put the $$$ towards some Pentax glass...

Well maxwell....(love the "Get Smart" avatar)

My mrs wants the canon, so its staying..... she currently has my old Pentax ME film SLR....
But it turns out that my brother is somewhat of a great photographer!
He is much better than me.....
He likes his wildlife (im gonna try to nick some of his bird pictures for you all to see, they are good)...
He has borrowed my tammy 70-300 lens (now will I ever see it again?) he loves it!
but not long enough! so we are gonna get some 2x converters as he cannot afford a 500mm or 1000mm lens....

whats better huge lens or good lens and a 2x?

I don't think a 2x TC would be very...suitable for the Tamron.

You would get a 140-600, but with a wicked aperture range, that will be terribly unsharp, in addition to some off-the-charts-PF (purple borders around high-contrast borders).

I would rather find a mirror lens or an old long M lens. That one could (maybe) also be used with a TC without any huge problems.

Oh, and congratulations on "finding the light".

I have used my Tammy 70-300 quite alot.....
I rarely use my 18-55 kit lens.... but not seen much of the purple monster!

So its NOT recommended to use teleconvertes then?
My brothers father-in-law uses them on his nikon ok... but with slight blurring around the edges... but my brother is ok with that....

what about a scope then?
my brother has put a kodak easyshare compact cam upto the eye piece of a scop and got a good shot...
Will this work? and what scope to use with the K100D?

"Pile of Rubblish"?

Despite the toyish feel of the 300D, it has something good inside. Just believe it or not! :-)
