I wonder what happens if I put a O-GPS1 on the K3II?
all of your coordinates will have a "second opinion".

I love the OGPS-1 unit and my biggest frustration is the lack of clear nights to use it. Here's a shot of Orion using the K5, OGPS-1, Rokinon 85mm f1.4 lens, ISO 400, f2.8 and 60 seconds exposure.
Thanks for the image. I would like to see more images from other user in this thread.

Some great shots there, Mike. I had seen Spirit of Radio before and loved it. Definitely more work to include stationary objects in these photos, but it can be done.

thanks Rondec!
Yes, more work, but I don't even think twice about taking a second stationary exposure with the GPS switched off and then blending. It is just part of the deal.

Nice shots, everyone!

I have played with the O-GPS1 a few times and like it and I hope to use it more with my K-30 this year. Since I already have one, the fact there's one in the K-3ii is nice, but not really necessary for me. If somehow, having it on board meant you didn't have to calibrate it, that might be very nice as mine always needs two or three calibrations during a session. It seems to "lose" its calibration after a few shots for some reason.

Having the GPS coordinates without having to attach the O-GPS1 would be cool, though. I never carry that with me on day trips because it just makes the camera kind of bulky and awkward. And I often wish I had the coordinates if I took a bunch of pictures along the Blue Ridge Parkway or something where overlooks and stuff tend to blend together and you can't remember where you were when you get home and look at the photos.

I haven't, and I likely wouldn't buy the O-GPS1, but I already have a strobe or two and if the camera came with the capability I most certainly would Geotag and try Astro.

I use polar-aligned mounts for my astro-photos (using only camera lenses). Either a standard astronomical equatorial mount with the K5/K3 mounted on it (not piggy-backed on a telescope) or a Vixen Polarie mounted on my photo tripod.

However, the K-3ii looks quite interesting to me, requiring no external device and no polar alignment. I will be looking into this more, including reports from the early adopters. My K-3 may get replaced.
