actually I would change my choice to the new Pentax FF / FA43 limited....it's smaller, lighter and just as sharp as the FA31 IMO ( I'm sure some will disagree)....it's also closer to the 50mm normal standard on th FF

If I had that Leica I would use body filler on the " Leica " logo and paint it black so I wouldn't get jacked for it.

My two favorite camera + single lens combos are:
  • Nikon D800 + 24-120mm f/4
  • Pentax K-3 + DA* 60-250mm

It would be hard to choose between the two even though the Nikon is more flexible.

I wouldn't disagree with you on the 43, but I thought that the choice of the frame hypotenuse as focal length was to challenge the idea of the 50 being the "norm" ie what the steady eye perceives as the main field of view, as distinct from what the eye is fully capable of seeing, if you catch my drift. I should chase that one up, further.

However, I think I'll still stick with my choice of the LX with the A50/1.2, although I did strongly consider the K-3 with the DA35/2.8 macro.

I am keeping 31 on K-3 and 43 on K-5II. The 31 has slight edge for me, although I prefer focal length of 43.
It is hard to decide which to take with me at any given time, but generally the 31 wins. Wife keeps 77 on K-1--her magic lens, she calls it.

A FF body with probably my "Special Lady” (SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2) prime, which I'm becoming so attached too for much of my work.

bring on the state of 3D printing so we can order the camera specs...and body.
I might well choose this excellent model

MZ-S / Digital FF with the FA43

Would cover most of my shooting (Landscape, portraits and walkaround).

oh yeah, this reminded me of my manual K 50mm f1.2 that has been neglected on the shelf...not AF but I think it will find a home on the Pentax FF eventually...

The dumb but technically accurate answer would be my phone camera. Because, you know, obviously I'm not giving up my phone!

Here's a more useful answer... My go-to camera these days is an Olympus OM-D E-M5. The 12-50mm kit lens -- weather sealed, with macro mode -- is the lens I use most often on it, too. It would be an easy choice for me. On the other hand, a system camera isn't really the most ideal if I can't change lenses.

Ricoh GR. I am amazed by the immage quality and how intuitive it is to use. If the next version has SR and an f2.0 lens it will delay my purchase of the ff. I NEVER thought I would say this, but using the GR has proven to me that a viewfinder is not necessary.

Another thought - something like the Panasonic LX 100 might work as well.

Pfffttt...one camera, one lens? There could be a myriad of choices, but it may all settle upon my iPhone. If I'm to be constricted, it might as well be combined with a device I carry with me most of the time, right? One lens...one camera...I choose my iPhone.

Is it even a question for 99.9% of the public? Uh..no, it's not.
