Very impressive shots. We have a family of blue heron that live along the river here. The best I can get is with my DA 50-200mm from across the river. They will not let anyone get close. Every day between 6:00am and 7:00am the male feeds down on our side of the river, but if I walk over to the edge of the deck he takes off. I love seeing these beautiful birds so close to the house.

David,

When I went out particularly in the rookery, taking pict was difficult. They were high up and they do not like to be disturbed unlike the time when they are hunting (means waiting for fishes to pass through).
Majority of them it was ok for me to be a birdwatcher. Watching and hearing them in action is exhilarating.

I did not post this one as it seemed that it was blurry. It is to an extent. But actually the bird was swinging so much so that its head was kind of twisted up.

Nice shots Daniel !,
You must have been really close to fill the frame like that The water looks really clean there too, no wonder they like it.

Never be ashamed of a natural action shot, Daniel. You've shown something worth seeing in how the heron goes about its business. The earlier "portrait" shots are exquisite, but this one taught me something. Well done, and thank you!
