UFO maybe?
It may be a UFO...Seriously. With all of the UFO's sited in Texas, New Jersey, Australia, Belgium etc. Could you e-mail me the full sized image please? Been seriously studying this phenomena for close to 20 years. Kind of an amateur specialist.

Thanks
Ben

no filters,

i was outside
I looked at some night shots I took in Prague reciently with my 10-20 and noticed slight internal reflections also in the sky. My shots were much faster (1/10 second wide open, and as a result did not get the pinpoint and cone.

Maybe we can work out a method to place these where we want.

can you say"Kirk to Enterprise, Beam me up Scotty"

I sharpened and cropped the original. Pretty tiny image, so I couldn't do much. That is one serious ray of light. Now that is an enigma. Did you hear any noise what so ever? Look at the surrounding city lights. They are symmetrical star shaped. This is casting a light in one direction only.

heh no, i heard no sounds or anything, it was windy that night, my mom and i just got into Quebec City after a long drive from Toronto.

i was kicking myself for not bringing my tripod, but at the same time i really didnt feel like lugging it around cuz my main job was mr.tourguide for my mom. But while on the walkway i used the flat railing as a base and just decided what would happen, the lights in the bottom kept throwing off the metering, so i just threw it into manual and tried it frist at 5 seconds exposure, then it was still dark, and then 20 seconds, the picture turned out okay and i just kept walking.

the thing is, this is something that didnt move, it was definetly a flash of light and not consistent.

also it doesnt seem to be as blown out as the city lights

how does internal reflection work exactly, where would the lightsource need to be for the reflection to end up where it did?

No UFO there, it is god. I see that light almost daily everytime God wants to ask me for some advice about how to handle the world problems.

That is why, we cannot delve in to quantum or paranormal conundrums...Not the right place.

Sorry for my wandering off of the straight and "NARROW"...

Re-reading my post I realized that I have been quite unpolite with people who believe in paranormal events. Please, accept my appologies, I have the annoying trend of mocking about these things. My appologies

1) Apparently William Blake got the same reflections:

2) I've noted the cone bit if not the rays in my Limiteds, they are usually green, in night shots, e.g. of the moon. It is some kind of an internal reflection in the lens.

It's lens flare caused by the bright light at the bottom of the picture. If you draw an imaginary line from your UFO through the centre of the frame, you'll see it goes right through the bright light on the other side.
