k10d and flash af-360fgz

Hello,

I recently replaced my Ist*-D by a k10d. I have a af-360fgz flash. I have noticed that I can't get the same result with my k10d when I use this flash. It seems like I am always underexposed. I never had this problem with my Ist*-D. I tried a bunch of stuff like P mode, green mode, different ISO, speed, aperture etc...

My set-up on the flash is P-TTL with A.Zoom, I use the same lens on the k10d and Ist* which is a 18-55mm DA.

Can someone help. I don't understand why I have such difference in performance.

Thanks a lot.

Gerald

I would first check to make sure that an old flash ec setting wasn't dialed in. Then I would make sure that I was waiting for the flash to fully charge before shooting. I would also check to make sure that I'm within the flash's effective range for whatever iso and aperture setting I'm using.

Hello bjorsa,

Thanks for your comments. I set my flash at +1.0 and I get a much better result, acceptable I would say. But I can only go up to +1.0 not +2.5. I ajust this by pressing the Fn button and then I go in the flash menu. Is there another place to change that?

Thanks a lot.

P.S: I upgraded my firmware from 1.0 to 1.3 without a better result...

I think both AF360 and Ist*-D can do TTL instead. Can some guru correct me?

I broke my AF360 and currently I am using Sigma 500ST. Before it was broken, all I did was to turn off the camera and flash and turned it back on. No clue why all of a sudden the flash combo went haywire. Resetting it solved the problem though ( until the problem recurred).

No... it doesn't do TTL with K10D....only P-TTL which in my experience completely sucks. It will work TTL on the older cameras. TTL works awesome on my older Pentax cameras. P-TTL is just inconsistent for me. Very disappointing.

I believe the last bodies to support TTL were the DS and the D.

According to what I can read should I get rid of my current flash af-360 fgz and buy something else. What would be the best match for my k10D ??
