You can get the battery grip with a K3 for the same price as the K3ii. Once you used the grip you wouldn't leave home without it.

I just upgraded from a K-5. I bought the k-3. I do use the pop up flash for on the go family pictures. I would not use the gps. I have an excellent hand held GPS I use for hiking and GPS games. As long as I make sure that the dates and times on the camera and GPS are the same or very close I get excellent GPS readings to add to my files automatically using readily available software.

I found the idea of the focus shift intriguing but I do VERY WELL with the 24 MP and careful technique.
The fact that I also got the battery grip in the deal pretty much sealed it.
