Battery life K20d?

I've had my K20d for quite some time now and the display showing battery life hasn't moved at all - I have the grip with a second battery, but even the primary still shows 100%...

How long can I expect the batteries to last, and how do you check how many shots have been taken?

I'm assuming my camera has fired off 889 shots, because that's the filename I'm up to.. but is there a way to check in camera?

The battery indicator is kind of a joke on the K10D/K20D. It will show full, and then within a few pictures, it will go down all of a sudden. How did you set battery use in the menu: auto, grip first or body first? If on "auto", I would recharge both right now.I'm pretty sure one of the battery is depleted by now if set for "grip" or "body". With Li-Ion batteries, you don't have to wait for the batteries to die before recharging them since they don't develop a memory effect like Ni-Cad btteries.

On the K10, the Battery selection menu is on page 3 (the last page) of the Set-up menu. It might be on the last page on the K20 as well.

I charge the batteries:

- after about 800 shots

- before an important shoot

- or whenever they go dead.

Just in case.

If you look on page 234 of your manual, you'll find the instructions for selecting the battery.

I have 6 batteries between my K10 and 20, no idea how long the batteries last as i always have three charged spares with me. At a guess though i think i have put about 2000 shots through the three that are in the cameras at the moment.
