Amazon is the biggest online retail store and it would probably cost them less to return and issue a refund than investigating the reason behind the return. I've been using Amazon since it was selling books and they improve all the time. Their customer service is one of the best when it comes to returns. However, obviously they just issue the refund and don't read or care about the reasons. When they see too many refunds on your account, they simply close it! They don't really care.

B&H on the other hand is a camera shop before anything else. They care more because they don't have the range of goods that Amazon have and of course because they are relatively small. They care more about customers because they are small and because they can! They know that in order to stay in business, they need to stay competitive. In few hours B&H matched Amazon's prices that I've posted in the forum here. They are great!

Now let's get back to Pentax! They are the smallest player and they aren't doing good. They are constantly making good cameras with competitive prices to stay relative in the market but they aren't that popular. There marketing sucks! They've released a camera that had an issue and instead of taking those facts into consideration and provide us with a better solution, they chose to do what other big names like Canon and Nikon would do. Again, just like the difference between Amazon and B&H. B&H is smaller but they matched Amazon prices and yet provided better service than Amazon to it's customers simply because they can't be Amazon and hopefully they'll never be.

Pentax claims that the K-3II has an improved SR over the K-3. A member here told me that s/he can see the difference but I want to know how much difference we're talking about here. I don't really care about the GPS and the sensor shift feature wouldn't work on most of what I photograph. I care about the SR the most though.

The main problem for me now is that the K-3II can get the problem at any time and the serial numbers that Pentax have announced are obviously wrong. That means the issue may occur no matter what serial number you have. Which also means that if you get the issue after your warranty has expired, you're on your own. In this case K-3 makes more sense than the K-3II. Just how different is the SR between these two cameras.
No idea what the law is in the US, but in the EU in a situation like that you are never 'on your own', past warranty expiry date. Stuff is expected to work, accounting for fair ware and tear, for 6 years I believe. As such, any manufacturing fault is covered for the period of that time, regardless whether you are still within your warranty or not.

Consumer protection in EU is way better than US and the rest of the world. Even a simple advertisement like the iPhone one was denied for being misleading in EU. Here? Of course it is fine. It is Apple!

Ditto! His constant one note rant on the subject has been irritating to say the least and not confined to this thread.

So are you saying that there is actually someone that agrees with me here good to know...
See above. "boriscleto'ed™" means a member feels you have nothing productive/useful to say and have been added to his or her ignore list.

Oh okay so basically a fanboy that can't tolerate seeing something different than his ideas. I get it :-)
