Ed video switching to 7DII

Interesting video on youtube of Ed switching from Pentax K-3 II to a 7D II. Switching so fast certainly involves spending a lot of money. However, is really worth given that the K-3 is already at 8fps and has a 24Mp Sony sensor?

It is to him, as he feels more confident and comfortable shooting with the 7D II. Which is a very good reason for switching, and it doesn't say anything about whether other people should switch.

8 fps doesn't really mean so much to me if it slows down to maybe 5 fps when in focus tracking. I don't buy a camera to impress other people.

Pentax and Nikon do generally have better sensors than Canon, esp for dynamic range. But there's more to a camera than its sensor.

Ed probably still has some Canon gear. He also switches his active brand every half year or so, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

I don't mean to sound rude, but so what? Whoever this "Ed" is, what does he know?

He's kinda the Ken Rockwell of Pentax.

Long lasting video "fare well" to Pentax, leaving many "ifs" and "whens" behind... actually he still loves the Pentax brand and feel of excitement when taking shots with it but the (obviously commercial) trust in the "boring" Canon is bigger when shooting weddings...well, that's a statement at least.... He probably will return when Pentax is coming up with some new exciting gear and if it would be only to "play" again with his beloved toy...

His videos are always un-watchable and uninformed.
I don't see how changing camera brands will make any difference to that.

I am curious if the video upgrade he desperately needs is just for those YouTube videos. That would be hilarious. Maybe he'll chime in here. I think his handle is Qwntm or something like that.

I've grown to like Ed and his rambling videos.

He has a point about Pentax's video being well behind Canon's, and I can understand that this could be a major detriment in the wedding photography business. That point seems quite plausible/believable to me. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ed back touting the new Pentax full frame. He clearly has an inherent soft spot for underdog Pentax. That's my 2 cents worth of input...

If he is shooting sports, then 7D Mark II is better than K-3 II in all aspects: much better buffer, better fps, a lot better autofocus system, much more lenses to chose from, etc. When comes to video...Canon is also way far ahead Pentax.

For PRO photographer I think that service support is also important, and Pentax is also far behind Canon/Nikon in this regard. In every little town in the world you can find a store which sell or rent Canon/Nikon products and this is also important for pro photographers.

Pentax is trying to innovate with every new camera launched (maintaining low prices for their products) and let's hope that the new full frame will be a serious competitor to Canon/Nikon/Sony... I love Pentax, but I'm an amateur photographer and I don't need all the stuff that an pro photographer need for his job (lenses, flashes, triggers to choose from, fast service for products with problems, stores to buy/rent lenses, cameras and accessories, etc.).
