It is to him, as he feels more confident and comfortable shooting with the 7D II. Which is a very good reason for switching, and it doesn't say anything about whether other people should switch.
8 fps doesn't really mean so much to me if it slows down to maybe 5 fps when in focus tracking. I don't buy a camera to impress other people.
Pentax and Nikon do generally have better sensors than Canon, esp for dynamic range. But there's more to a camera than its sensor.
