I believe that this is the case with most sensors, in regards to blown highlights. I've also gotten into the habit of underexposing my photos from my K-30, knowing that it will still look good when I brighten it back up.

Sometimes when I'm shooting with my Panasonic LX100, which has an m43 sensor, I fall into the same routine, and then I get disappointed when the pictures end up being a little more noisy than I'm used to with my K-30. So with my LX100 I usually try to dial in a more exact exposure.
I have the older LX3; Panasonic I find meters rather accurately and the colours are actually quite good as well (tbh the LX3 meters far better than my K50 does...). I find setting shots to perfect exposure to work much better on Panasonic, for similar reasons to you; too much noise when you brighten it up, or blown highlights when its over-exposed (I honestly do believe they meter much more accurately though).
