Beats the $240 CRIS charged me for SDM repair a few years back and it took 6-8 weeks. With service like this KEH could get a lot of Pentax business!

That looks like a tiny sdm thingy. I also had a defective DA*200 mm but was able to return it to the shop as DOA.

I tried sending my K-3 to KEH for out of warranty repair for AF problem but they said they couldn't repair it so they sent it to Precision for me. Precision hasn't repaired the problem. I've now sent it in twice ($375 later) and received it back twice supposedly fixed. The problem remains.

Following up on my earlier post, I got the lens back from KEH a couple of days ago along with the old SDM component they replaced (nice touch). The SDM is working great. I guess it's back to original performance but I've been without it for so long I can't honestly remember it's original performance. So less than 2 weeks turnaround, $195 flat rate repair, and a 6-month warranty; what's not to like? Very glad I had an option other than Precision...

Update on my SDM repair: three months since the repair by KEH and the 200* is still working perfectly. I have shot probably 300-400 images, testing the auto-focus. The warranty has three more months to go. Yesterday it snowed. Now I will use the lens for action shots of falling snowflakes!

Received my 50-135mm from KEH repair in 10 days. SDM was replaced and the lens cleaned. Cost was $195 plus $12 shipping and they returned the defective SDM. Lens was packed well and is working great. Highly recommend KEH for lens repair.

good to know. Just bought a 16-50 from them, sdm was doa. Sending it out Monday for a repair. Glad I haven't needed my extended k3 warranty with all the terrible things I've heard about precision.
